The Maintenance Shop, or M-Shop as it is affectionately known, is the longest running nightclub in Ames, IA. The M-Shop, which sits in the west entrance of the Memorial Union on the grounds of Iowa State University, hosts around 70 musical shows a year. In addition, the M-Shop also hosts Grandma Mojo's Moonshine Revival, a student sketch comedy and improv troupe, open mic nights, theater performances, drag shows, raves and dances, and more.
The M-Shop is an ALL AGE VENUE that is open only for events in the evenings and from 11:00am-5:00pm weekdays for studying, lounging and just relaxing while you listen to upcoming artists that will soon be appearing in the venue, and you may purchase tickets for upcoming shows during these hours as well.
Being a student run entity of Iowa State University's Student Union Board (SUB), the M-Shop can be rented for events or private use by contacting the SUB Directors of the space and checking on availability and discussing opportunities for future events.
Without a bad seat in the house, the M-Shop easily rivals any venue of similar size, and many even larger, for performance quality and concert experience for its patrons.
